The best of the Highland weather was found in the Cairngorms today and even then Esme and Rob had to battle their way against 50 to 60 mile an hour gusts to reach Coire an Lochain. The smallest of streams had swollen to raging torrents from the recent snow melt making the stream crossings quite a challenge, we reached the bottom of the great slab avalanche which released last Friday or Saturday and managed to make an appearance on the MWIS avalanche blog
