Today was the first day of our six day SYHA Torridon Munros activity holiday for 2014. Neil, Fiona, Chris and Pete all were keen to start the week with a good hill day so we headed for the massif that is Beinn Eighe. We made good time to Spidean Coire nan Clach with the hope that the clouds would lift; unfortunately they did not lift and the rain set in and began to challenge all of our outdoor clothing! Despite these conditions everyone was on good form and enjoyed getting to know one another in one of the best places – ‘on the hill’! Chris took advantage of the cloudy conditions on the way across to RSM where he tried out walking on a bearing for the first time. The hill was quite busy despite the weather but fortunately for us there were no other parties in the descent gully to Coire Mhic Fhearchair. At last we were all rewarded for our efforts as the clouds cleared and the sun came out to provide the beautiful views that this corrie is famous for. A nice easy walk out and back to Torridon Hostel to dry out kit in preparation for tomorrow… perhaps a trip to Macphersons in Inverness is now in order?
