Technical mountaineering day – Beinn Eighe

image

For second day guiding on #thetorridon walking festival Thomas, Neil and I made a direct traverse of the east end of Beinn Eighe.  Tbe beautiful approa h from Cromasaig took us up into a wild unspoilt mountainscape. The Black Carls werr a perfect grade 1 scramble for the guys to practice their skills as well as experience new techniques.  We made good time on the easy ridge to Spidean Coire nan Clach, 993m. This meant we had plenty of time to make the descent of  Stuic a Coire an Laoigh. This included a stacked abseil as seen in the photo.
Well done to Thomas and Neil for their great attitude and application of skills.

  1. This was a perfect day out, applying my skills learned the previous day on the “Introduction to Scrambling”-course.
We managed to pack in a lot of stuff, always driven on by Jim, who managed to be hands-on, always providing a safe environment, while keeping a relaxed atmosphere. Yet most importantly he shared his enormous skills base and experience. This enabled us to refresh (Neil), or apply for the first time (me), our scrambling skills in a real mountain environment. In future I can go about scaling the tops in a more confident and safe way. And I got the bug for ropework, harnesses, abseiling etc. Loved it.
