TISO navigation course

I was working on a TISO navigation course this weekend. These and many other courses are offered in association with Stuart Johnston, climbmts.
On Friday night I met with my 9 clients in TISO, Inverness to discuss what they wanted to achieve and cover some basic map and compass work.
For the hill day we went to the Coire an Lochain, Lurchers Gully, Chalmain Gap and back to the Ski Centre. Throughout the day the group had a chance to practice navigation techniques such as timing, setting the compass, re-locating using aspect of slope and interpreting contours. Despite the clear and dry weather everyone felt suitably challenged and were keen to do more navigation practice.
