climbing at Cumminstoun

Today David and Lianna wanted to cover climbing skills such as placing gear and building belays.  To make the best of a the day we went to Cummingstoun which proved to be sheltered from the big southeasterlies.  David and Lianna quickly picked up on the principles of placing wires, hexes, cams and using them to build belays in one of the caves.  We then did two routes in series, two stacked abseils and almost a third route before the weather finally broke!

David and Lianna are now ready to start making some mountain journeys to put this into practice – if only the weather would improve…
