Cairngorms with David & Lianna

preparing a buried axe belay

Today I headed into Coire na Ciste, Cairngorm for the first of three days with David and Lianna.  Despite very strong winds, spindrift and generally ‘challenging’ conditions we managed to cover some useful winter mountaineering skills.  Choice of slope aspect was somewhat restricted due to avalanche conditions and by the time we got off the hill the corrie had visibly filled in with fresh, wind blown snow.  Thanks again to Keela for providing nineonesix-guiding with some of their belays jackets to try out.
