Stirling Uni Winter meet 2012 – Kintail

The nineonesix team were out again for another year with Stirling University Mountaineering Club at the start of their annual winter meet, this year in Kintail, for two days of winter skills and winter climbing.

The weather gods smiled on us and we had two days of perfect scottish winter. The four teams split up and covered most of the South Cluanie ridge on day one, finding great conditions for introducing the use of crampons and Ice axes, with some fresh snow on top of a nice hard base.

On day two Nathan took two of the students for a winter climbing adventure on the North West face of Anoach an Chrith. They found perfect frozen turf on Micah Shist special, grade III.

  1. Jim,

Thanks to Ian, Kirsty, Mick, Nathan and Alex for 2 days of excellent training in Kintail. , All the members had a great time and have all felt they benefited greatly from the tuition provided by your team at Nineonesix-Guiding.

    Regards,

    Niall.

  2. Just want to say thanks to all you guys for an absolutely fantastic time. Had two brilliant days out, and while the weather helped a lot, Ian was an excellent guide and really helped to make the most of the sun and the snow. Hope you guys have a great year!

  3. Thanks for a superb two days of training that gave me the confidence to tackle more challenging routes later in the week. Even if you didn’t organise the weather, I gained a lot from the experience and am counting down the days until next winter!
    All the best,
    Andrew.

  4. This was my second year running of winter meet and a further 2 days of nine-one-six training, another brilliant two days on the hill with Ian. New skills/tips ideas gained and a brush up of last years techniques, great building block and confidence booster.

    cheers guys

    Lynn

  5. You guys were super fantastic as usual. I spent the first day doing mountainy stuff with Iain who is an absolute legend and then had a properly amazing day with Nathan the next day doing a cheeky wee climbing route. Excellent guides, super professional, super skilled and lots of banter. Thanks guys!

  6. Thanks to Ian for two fantastic days in the mountains. The guides really tailored the days to each group and listened to what we wanted to get out of it. I’ll be getting back out as soon as I can!
