CMD arete, Ben Nevis

Shirley and Chris about to start the CMD arete

The CMD arête was the perfect choice for return clients Chris and Shirley’s trip to the Highlands. They experienced all types of weather as we left the summit of Carn Mor Dearg in whiteout blizzard conditions and were soon rewarded with some stunning views of the North face of Ben Nevis bathed in sunshine. We knew this wouldn’t last so used the opportunity to grab some lunch and take in the views. As predicted we were soon back on a compass bearing to the summit of the Ben and then down the tourist route to complete our circuit.

  1. Many thanks to Dunc for an excellent day out – probably one of the best we’ve had in the mountains. I would recommend this trip to anyone, especially if you have some experience of winter walking and are looking for a challenge! Also, if you have a never tried winter walking then I would certainly advise you give it a go. Shirley and I use to think climbing mountains was something that you did from Spring until Autumn. Now I think we prefer Winter!
