Beinn Alligin

a good foothold

Today Alasdair & Nevin we were joined by Carolyn.  In order to make the best of the early sunshine we scrambled up the south rim of Coir nan Laogh on Beinn Alligin, via the grade 1 scramble ‘Na Fasreidhnean’.  As the photo above shows this provided plenty of opportunities to get used to scrambling on Torridonian Sandstone.  We looked at route choice, using a balance of foot and hand holds, as well as how to move safely on less frequented routes such as this one.

After the scramble, on the way across to the Tom na Gruagaich the group ‘calibrated’ themselves for their 100m double-pacing.  Quick out and back to Sgurr Mor and then more fun bits of scrambling before heading down the Coir nan Laogh path.

Many thanks to the National Trust for Scotland workers who told us a bit about the great work they are doing on the path.
