Stirling University Mountaineering Club winter skills weekend in Torridon.

students from Stirling University MC coming off Beinn Alligin

Today nineonesix were providing winter skills for Stirling University Mountaineering Club. the first half of the day was spent mastering the basics of moving on snow. After some practice in self arrest we decided that the summit of Beinn Alligin was within our reach.  We reached the top of Tom Na Gruagaich at about 14:oo  managing to fit some crampon practice in on the way .  Bum slide descent of the middle section of Coir nan Laogh was enjoyed by everyone easing our journey back to the corrie floor.

Dunc will be in the Cairngorms next week with some apprentices from BTOpenreach so keep checking this blog.
