A windy day on the Beinn Eighe ridge.

Big Smiles in the wind!heading up onto the ridge

Today I was out on Beinn Eighe with Peter and Robyn for their first real taste of a big Scottish ridge walk.

We approached the ridge by the classic route up from Coire Mhic Fhearchair.  Once on the ridge we decided that the strong gusty conditions should be used to our favour and not against us so we headed straight over to Spidean Coire nan Clach.  From there we dropped back down to Glen Torridon via the excellent stalkers path.  Well done to Peter and Robyn for coping well with such ‘challenging’ conditions!

On Thursday Ian was out on the hill with Philip, who is steadily working his way towards completing his Munros, which is quite a task when you are traveling over from Ireland for every trip into the hills! Given the good weather we headed round the back into Corie Na Caime to tackle the Northern Pinnacles of Liathach, with their short, interesting and quite serious sections of scrambling. On the way we were treated to some spectacular views of Liathach and surrounding hills. Once up on the ridge we were then able to complete a full traverse of the mountain including the pinnacles of Am Fasairen and a decent off the East Ridge. A big day, but well worth the hard work!
